{"id":18,"date":"2019-11-20T10:48:52","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T09:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nbc-journal.org\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2019-11-20T10:48:53","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T09:48:53","slug":"instructions-for-authors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.nbc-journal.org\/?page_id=18","title":{"rendered":"Instructions for authors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Before submitting a manuscript to Nova Biotechnologica\n<em>et<\/em> Chimica, please read these\nInstructions carefully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nova Biotechnologica <em>et<\/em> Chimica publishes original Research articles and Reviews. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Research articles<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 should report novel information, beyond simply representing a\nconfirmation of previously published work. Data resulting from monitorings\nshould point on some clear conclusion, extending the previously reported\nknowledge. First records, reports &amp; observations without a&nbsp;serious\nscientific proof are not welcome. Authors must indicate (preferably in the\nExperimental section) the reproducibility or statistical significance of the\nresults, especially where error bars are not indicated for data (e.g. images,\nblots). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Reviews<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <em>Only invited reviews<\/em> will\nbe considered for publication. Authors wishing to publish a review article\nshould contact the Editor-in-Chief or the Exeutive Editor (<a href=\"mailto:bc-journal.fpv@ucm.sk\">bc-journal.fpv@ucm.sk<\/a>).&nbsp; In a cover letter, they should present the\nAbstract and indicate the importance of the review to the scientific community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preparation of Manuscripts for Submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Submission of a manuscript implies that the work\ndescribed has not been published before and nor it is under consideration for\npublication elsewhere. The corresponding author is responsible for approval of\nthe work by all co-authors, correct and complete affiliations of the authors,\nand for listing the appropriate funding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Title Page<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The title page should include the following items: The\nfull name of the author(s); A concise and informative title up to 180\ncharacters (including spaces); The affiliation(s) and address(es) of all\nauthor(s); The e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding\nauthor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Abstract<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The abstract of up to 250 words should be clear, straightforward\nand easy to understand even for scientists in more distant research fields. It\nshould also conclude on how the work advanced the state of the art in the\nfield. Avoid using undefined abbreviations or unspecified references. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Keywords<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please provide 4 to 6 keywords in alphabetic order.\nAvoid use of words already appearing in the title of the paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Text Formatting<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manuscripts should be submitted in Word (docx or doc\nformat), written in Times New Roman font size 12, including tables and figures,\ngraphs etc. Main headings (Introduction, Experimental, Results, Discussion,\nAcknowledgements and References) should be displayed by bold, font size 14.\nSub-headings should be of no more than three levels. Please, use the equation\neditor or MathType for equations. Abbreviations should be defined at first\nmention and used consistently thereafter. For units, please follow SI\nnomenclature or the nomenclature common to a particular field; leave a single\nspace between the number and the unit. Genus and species names should be in\nitalics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>References<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please, cite references in the text by name and year\nin parentheses, e.g. ..according to Wang <em>et\nal. <\/em>(2017); &#8230; observed by others (Kalogeropoulos <em>et al<\/em>. 2010; Mourtzinos <em>et\nal. <\/em>2008; Peter and Otmann 2004; Castro 1999).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of references should only include works that\nare cited in the text, alphabetized by the last names of the first author of\neach work. Please, use the standard abbreviation of a journal\u2019s name according\nto the ISSN List of Title Word Abbreviation (if you are unsure, please use the\nfull journal title). Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>Boege K, Marquis RJ (2005)\nFacing herbivory as you grow up: the ontogeny of resistance in plants. Trends\nEcol. Evol. 20: 441-448.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Davies DD (1982) Physiological aspects of\nprotein turnover. In: Coulter D, Parthier B (eds) Encyclopedia of plant\nphysiology, vol XIVA. Springer-Verlag, Berlin,Germany, pp 189-228.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Figures<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Figures should always be cited\nin text in consecutive numerical order. Minimum resolution of the figures\nshould be 300 dpi, ideally 600 dpi. The final size (width) of the Figures\nshould be 80 mm or 160 mm. For lettering is recommended to use Arial (sans\nserif fonts), sized consistently (and minimal size variation) throughout the\nfinal-sized figures, usually about 2\u20133 mm (8\u201312 pt.). Each figure should have a\nconcise caption describing accurately what the figure depicts. Point on all\nelements found in the figure and use boxes, circles, etc., as coordinate points\nin graphs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Tables<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tables should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.\nThe table caption (title) should explain all the components of the table.\nFootnotes should be indicated by superscript lower-case letters (or asterisks\nfor significance values and other statistical data), and given beneath the\ntable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Ethical statement: Conflict of\nInterest statement<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The corresponding author with consents of all authors\nshould include in manuscript a summary statement in a separate section before\nthe reference list, that reflects the potential conflict of interest disclosure\nform(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Example:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Funding:<\/em> This research\/study was funded by Agency X (grant\nnumber X).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Conflict of Interest<\/em>: Author A was supported by\nresearch grant from Company\/Agency A.
